Über die Veranstaltung
The cabaret-inspired version of Bizet’s opera, staged by internationally renowned director Barrie Kosky, sets Carmen’s love life free, inviting her to entertain her every whim with an insouciantly playful and sensual fervor.
Set designer Katrin Lea Tag’s humongous black stairway creates a cool, minimalist stage for the story. On the stairway, soloists from the Royal Danish Opera as well as international guest soloists will unfold their talents, both vocally and physically, along with members of the Royal Danish Opera Chorus, which plays a leading role in this captivating love triangle. Six dancers will furthermore unleash their energy to choreographer Otto Pichler’s stringently masterful dance steps.
Bizet’s fiery opera with its instantly recognizable tunes has remained a timeless narrative that has both outraged and seduced audiences for more than 140 years.
